Brief Biography

I did my integrated BS-MS at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune (IISER Pune). My most significant research experience was during my master’s thesis project at Institute For Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (InStem), India, where I was exploring the role of ribonucleoproteins in stem cell function in planarians and if it could be related to the mitochondrial state. I am interested in regenerative biology, especially in how regenerative processes initiate. In this regard, some of the broad questions that I want to explore are how injury signals shape immune responses or how immune responses shape the wounded microenvironment to prevent fibrosis and establish a regeneration-permissive environment and how these molecular mechanisms convert wound epidermis into a specialized wound epidermis. During my graduate studies at UMaine, I look forward to exploring questions even very different from these and have a lot of sweet. To compensate for a sweet tooth, I love to play sports.
