Biography
| I am originally from Nigeria, and my journey into biomedical research has been shaped by a deep curiosity about how genes control organ development and disease. I am currently a Ph.D. student in the Drummond lab studying the genetic and molecular basis of kidney disease, with a particular focus on the role of genes in podocyte morphogenesis. My research explores how specific mutations disrupt filtration barrier integrity, leading to proteinuria and kidney dysfunction. Using zebrafish as a model, I combine molecular genetics, imaging, and functional assays to uncover mechanisms that may inform future therapeutic approaches. Beyond my benchwork, I love to bake and see movies. After completing my degree, I aim to pursue a career that integrates academic research, teaching, and mentorship, contributing to the next generation of scientists and educators. Whether through leading a research group or shaping science education programs. My long-term goal is to help translate complex scientific ideas into meaningful impact, advancing both knowledge and opportunity within the field of biomedical science. |
